WORKCAMP VJF 3.1 BERLIN IN SPRING 05/04 - 16/04/04 Participants: 12 Work: RENO
The Area: You will live in the „Projekt- und Begegnungsstätte“. That’s the meeting and project centre of the Union of Young Volunteers (VJF). It is situated in a forest directly on the bank of the lake „Langer See“ in Berlin. It’s a quiet place, a bit far from the centre of Berlin (but there are good public transport connections). This centre is used as accommodation for different groups of young people and a sort of holiday resort for school classes. It is possible to hold there national or international assemblies as well.
The Work: We are going to prepare our centre for the next season. There is a lot to do for you: painting, cleaning, gardening work.
From 09/04 to 12/04/04 Germans have public holidays and celebrate Easter. During this time volunteers do not have to work.
Accommodation: You will live in the centre in small houses.
Food: You will have the possibility to prepare your own meals in a small kitchen of the centre. Sometimes meals will be provided. That means that vegetarians will have no problem. Please bring your own recipes for our international evenings.
Leisure Time: This may be decided in accordance with the group’s wishes. You can use the opportunities in our holiday place to do sports. Of course you will enjoy the sights and culture (theatres, clubs...) of Berlin and go for an excursion to Potsdam.
Important Notes: Don’t forget to bring strong shoes; working clothes, a lot of warm clothes, it might be still cold in Berlin, and anything for entertainment.
You may bring some information and ideas about Easter traditions from your home country.
