F O R U M 01 - Energy Brigade Ostrog town, Rivne Region 2-14 April 2004 Envi/Reno 10 vol
About the project: This our second camp in Ostroh town in co-operation with “Ecoclub” NGO? Just the boarding school is other. Ostrog is a small ancient historical town. Volunteers together with local enthusiasts will insulate (winterize) boarding school for orphans and half orphans. The current conditions in the school are unbearable in the winter. In addition there is inadequate circulation, which results in poor air quality. The insulations will benefit orphans between the ages of 7 to 17 and staff members who serve them.
The estimated result of this project will be an average increase of inside temperature up to 10°F, dust reduction, noise reduction, increased public awareness of energy conservation, and involving various organizations in a single community-based project.
Our Partners: The project is organized in partnership with local NGO “Ecoclub”, a member of the International Energy Brigades, which helps to insulate the housing of low-income families, orphans, children with disabilities and the elderly.
Work: Together with Ukrainian Energy Brigades members different activities on windows insulation and energy conservation will be carried out: repairing, painting, sealing and puttying gaps as well as workshops and dispute sessions.
Volunteer’s skills and interests: Those who are not indifferent to living conditions of orphans, to energy efficiency in households, to the environment and the communities’ role in the development of a civil society are very welcome. The students who have an environmental specialty or familiar with this matter are especially welcome.
Accommodation: Boarding school premises. Basic washing and cooking facilities will be provided. Volunteers should bring with them work wear, sleeping bags. Food will be provided in a café.
