Regional Park North Adda
Project: The area of Paderno and Cornate d’Adda is rich in environmental and architectural beauty as well as historical industry: the middle course of the River Adda and its valley, the iron bridge across the Adda and the hydroelectric power stations which are many centuries old. All these beautiful and historic sites are situated in approximately 1 km radius. Because of this, the area was proposed to UNESCO, who can protect areas of particular relevance, especially the iron bridge (Paderno d'Adda) that is unanimously considered as a real symbol of Italian industrial architecture. It is one of the most interesting examples of Italian engineering from the 1800’s constructed between 1887 and 1889. For the duration of the camp the volunteers will clean and maintain the area around the Ecomuseum, which will be inaugurated during the workcamp.
Work: Cleaning and maintaining of the Ecomseum and the surroundings.
Location: Paderno d’Adda, in Lecco province in Lombardia region.

Project: Torri Superiore is a small medieval village dated at the XII century and situated in Val Bevera, a small valley characterised by the cultivation of olives trees and mimosa plants, located close to the coast and to the border with France. Since 1989 the Cultural Association “Torri Superiore” has been developing a project to restore the wonderful Medieval village to transform it in an ecological, co-operative village and a centre of cultural research. The Association started to organise workcamps with Legambiente in the 1992 and all the 19 groups of volunteers have been involved in the maintenance of the old houses, and the abandoned building that now are used again. From 1997 13 restructured houses have been used and a big part of the cultural centre. The place will be used for cultural activities as courses of biological agriculture, ceramics, shiatsu…, and also it will be open for trekking excursions. Torri Superiore is member of GEN-Europe (Global eco-village network) and RIVE ( Italian eco-village network). In this camp volunteers will help in the restoration of a path in a close village called Trucco and in the maintenance of the fountain “Balestra” (famous for the quantity and quality of its water) and the water canals used for the farmers. Besides volunteers will help in some reconstruction works of stone walls that have been destroyed by wild boars during the winter. NOTE: The work can be very involving and hard

Natural Park of Serio
Project: Cavernago is a little village with about 1800 inhabitants. It is about 10 kilometres far away from Bergamo, the chief town of the district. The village is situated inside a regional park (Parco del Serio). Serio is one of the most important river at provincial level. The village is very famous for the presence of a medieval castle, so important from an historical point of view. The work project for few days will be about the cleaning up and the maintenance of a natural area inside the Park; the rest of the time the volunteers will give their support and help for the organizasion and the practical running (clean tables, move chairs, collect waste…) of the regional festival of Legambiente organised by the local group (Circolo G.Falcone) that will be held in those days just outside and even inside the famous castle.
Work: Cleaning up and maintaining a green area of the Park and help in organising the Legambiente regional Festival.
