NICE/09 Omiya 1 (Mie) 21/03-29/03 ENVI, KIDS 10 (5 int.)
Organized together with the local government since 1996. We've started creating "Village with
fireflies and insects" that can live only in the clean water. This is a very remarkable experiment to
activate local areas in 3 points; 1) Not by industrial development/ construction/ festival, but by
improving local nature, 2) Not by companies/ governments, but by mainly volunteers, and 3) Not only
by local people, but also by world youth. Quite many local students have worked together with us.
W: We will maintain the public facilities such as camping site, flower park, buildings, etc.
Every year some local students will join and work with us. If the dates will be suitable for us, we will
Visit on some nursing institutions for elderly people, junior high school.
S: To make good countryside, good town. Bring some info.!
P: Exchange parties, excursion, cycling, sports, international game, etc.
A: Cycling Terminal (Public Center) with several rooms. CV. We will move with bicycles, so you
should be able to ride bicycles!! You can go around the area in free time!
L: Agricultural and forestry (80% of the land) village, about 90km southwest of Nagoya.
T: Nagoya (3-4 hours by train). From Tokyo, 5 hours by bullet or 10 hours by slow train.
Q: Some Japanese language are very helpful to communicate with local kids.
