NICE-RCB/02 Ba (* Fiji) 13/02-27/02 ENVI 20 vols.
(NVDA members only)
Organized together with RCB (Rotary Club of Ba) since 02. The
first international workcamps in the south pacific region was held
in Feb. 2002 financially supported by "Greening Asia Fund" in NICE.
21 Fijian, Korean and Japanese volunteers planted 2,500 trees
together with many local people. RCB organize various projects
to support local communities such as construction of houses for
poor people.
This 2nd project will be open to Asian and hopefully, the 3rd one
will be open to any nationalities.
W: We will build a fence and beautify the place of Half-Home
as well as helping to build houses for poor people in Rotary
Village and beatifying the Rakiraki village with the local youth.
These works will be done in cooperation with Governmental
Departure who needs our assistance.
S: Future planning of workcamps in the South Pacific. Bring some info.!
P: Exchange parties, school visit, excursions, etc.

L: Fiji is in south Pacific Ocean with 300 island (100 are habited ones).
53% is native and 47% is Indian. Ba is a quiet town with 80,000
inhabitants (80% is Indian) which main industry is sugar.
T: Nandy (RCB will kindly pick volunteers up at the airport!)
Q: To be flexible/ adaptable. Fijian/ Hindu speakers are welcome!
X: Food cost (about 50 US$) should be paid by volunteers during the project.
