EST 32 KIIDI VÕRU 13.09 – 24.09.04 MANU/ENVI 8 vols
Project
The charm of Haanja Uplands in South Estonia lies in the lovely hilly landscape, winding roads and numerous lakes. Most of its ancient villages, dialect, handicraft and customs have preserved till today. The whole area, called Võrumaa, is an area of outstanding beauty. It is famous for diverse very well preserved nature. Untouched forests with wild life, deep valleys, hills, 170 small lakes with extremely clean water, rivers with caves in the steep banks - you can find everything there. Germany, Poland, Sweden and Russia ruled this region through the 700 years of its history. There are many sites showing different periods of history of Võrumaa like bishop’s castle, churches, manors etc. Nowadays it is a part of independent Estonia with its economic and social problems and slower, comparing to the northern Estonia, development. Local authorities see one of possible solutions in the development of nature- and farm tourism. Together with the Association of Farm Tourism they have already launched some projects. Kiidi Farm, where the camp takes place, is one of them. For more information visit www.kiidi.ee
