IBG 36 Hirschhorn (Hesse) 16.10.-30.10.2004 RENO 8- 20 volunteers
Hirschhorn is a very beautiful town on the banks of the river Neckar. The landscape with the river, the medieval castle and the forests is breathtaking. The town is dominated by the castle situated over a steep hill above the town. Visits of the town, the castle and the surroundings will be worthwhile. Our partner for this project is the local municipality. The local municipality and the local population really look forward to welcoming a second workcamp in this year.
Work: The group will continue and possibly finish the work that the last two workcamps have started, which is to restore an old footpath along the complete town wall leading up to the castle. The path meanders along old terraced gardens planted with fruit trees and it is very steep. The work will include clearing vegetation, transporting materials such as gravel and stones, laying steps and paving with natural red sandstones. The work will be physically hard (but the view of the town compensates for this). Accommodation: The group will live very centrally in a former hotel with all comforts. Next train station: Hirschhorn. Next airport: Frankfurt
