Place : Emmaus community, located in an isolated village at 45 km from the city of Toulouse.
What is Emmaus : it is a community that welcomes marginalised and homeless people, mostly men. They are called "companions". The community provides them with a place whenre they can live and work. It is a place where people live together in a spirit of solidarity. Some companions live there temporarily while going trough a tough phase in life and the community supports them towards social reinsertion; others see life in the community as an alternative way of life
Work : Volunteering in an Emmaüs community is a unique opportunity to discover another way of living and working, and to experience a community lifestyle based on solidarity. The activity and life of the community is organised around collecting and selling of second-hand articles (clothes, furniture, books, electronic items, etc). The volunteers will be associated to the daily tasks carried out all year round by the companions.
Requirements : minimum age 20; the consumption of alcoholic drinks is forbidden as a form of respect and solidarity towards the members of the community who are fighting against addiction.
