ISL 20 SKALICA II 21/08/05 – 03/09/05 VOLS: 15

WORK: Repairing of the “Stone hut” – one of important rest stations on a touristic path in the forests and meadows of Zlatnícka dolina, wine region around Skalica.
ACCOMODATION: Lodging will be provided in a fully equipped house. All facilities available, fully furnished kitchen with dishes and pots is at hand as well. Rooms are provided with sleeping quilts and pillows, therefore sleeping bags are NOT necessary.
FOOD: Food will be prepared by volunteers themselves from supplies provided, so it is welcomed to bring the recipes of national meals.
PROGRAM: Getting to know the region of Skalica with its long history. Beside that it is great to walk around Small Karpaths to explore nature and make trips to other beautiful places of Slovakia like cities Trnava or Šaštín.
LOCATION: Skalica is an old town in the western part of Slovakia (just at the border with Czech Rep.) where the oldest roman “rotunda” in Slovakia is situated. Most of the former town fortification can still be seen there. It has a long tradition in growing, producing and tasting of red wine.
REMARKS: Do not forget to bring, working clothes and gloves, strong boots, glasses, raincoat, hat, some warm clothes and swimming suit.
