Leg86 Parco dei Nebrodi (Me) Sicily 16/07/05 27/07/05 ENVI/STUD 12
Nebrodi’s Park is one of the four regional park of Sicily and with its 86.000 hectares represents the largest one in the island and one of the largest of Europe. The workcamp will take place in Alcara Li Fusi, one of the 21 villages inside the Park and will foresee activities of monitoring the grifon-vulture population, animal recently reintroduced in the area. Volunteers together to experts staff and zoologists will make and analysis of the territorial distribution of the grifon-vulture, watching their ethology either if they are free or in the acclimated aviary. Also a specific study about the territorial distribution, the alimentation and the habitat selection of the royal eagle will be made. Volunteers will collaborate to the maintenance of some Park structures too. During the free time excursions will be organised to the seaside, a lake, a horse stud farm and to the black pig breading.
Work: grifon-vulture monitoring and maintenance of the Park.
Location: Messina district, Sicily region.
Accommodation: park building
Terminal: closest international airports and railways stations are Reggio Calabria and Catania.
