PARTICIPATION FEE: 180 EUROS
PROJECT: The city of Santiago de Querétaro is located two hours North (by bus) from Mexico City in the most important shopping corridor in the country . The city has many industrial parks, squares and historical monuments, which has made of this city one of the most dynamic and fruitful in the country. The quality of life is higher than the national average, besides it is a national jewel and a humanity heritage.
The House of Culture “Dr. Ignacio Mena Rosales” is located downtown, it has space enough for the performing of artistic activities and for the project which will be carried out with the help of volunteers.
Querétaro is situated between Mexico City and Guadalajara. As the prosperous agricultural and industrial center of the Bajío. Inside the commercial ring, however, the city is a colonial wonder, with lantern-lit squares and an 18th century aqueduct formed by 74 graceful arches. In Querétaro’s heart, university students and entrepeneurs bustle past one another on centuries-old brick streets and andares (pedestrian walkways).
WORK:
The project “ Written Expression Downtown” wants to integrate people from Queretaro downtown to participate in any activity related with writing and it includes the following activities:
• To make and place brochures and charts
• To invite people directly in the street and houses
• To invite people by a spot in the radio of Querétaro
• Placing advertisements in specific places downtown to announce the free written expression for people passing by.
• Design of cards for their distribution in restaurants and bars.
• Performing a video in which written and oral expressions can be recollected from people downtown.
• Setting of “lending books carts” in downtown squares.
• Creating a web page
• Organize written expression workshops in the diverse languages of the volunteers.
• Design of separators
• To create an ambulant notebook in which thoughts, phrases, summons, dedications, jokes, complains, etc. can be compiled
• Collecting all the expressions, phrases, jokes, etc along the campaign for further use in the future
• Making a weekly publication for the best phrases, jokes, thoughts and expressions.
• Story -teller
REQUIREMENTS:
We need volunteers with pleasure for writing, reading and dealing with people (adult and children)
• Volunteers who make themselves understood in Spanish
• To be creative, dynamic and enthusiastic to cooperate.
FREE TIME: There are many places to visit like museums, monuments, parks and nearest cities like: San Miguel de Allende, Cadereyta de Montes, Amealco, Acámbaro, San Juan del Río, Guanajuato, León.
WHAT TO BRING: Many ideas to share,
LANGUAGE: It is required that volunteers speak and write Spanish.
