Project
The northern shore of Lake Kuremaa, where you find a 250-metre stretch of golden sand,is the only organized public beach in Jogeva County manned by lifeguards. Kuremaa Beach House is a project run by the NGO Oieke, which takes care of the area, promotes sustainable life-style, develops nature tourism activities, offers various leisure activities to public and organizes summer camps for youngsters. Volunteers are invited to help this NGO and locals to take care of the beach house and its surroundings and prepare it for the summer season. Work
Wide range of activities will be offer to volunteers – mostly in the field of maintenance and development of the visitor site and the territory of the beach and surrounding. It involves: tidying up the area, cutting bushes, weeding; works with soil, landscaping, easier construction work like building benches; painting, etc. The working time each day is approximately 6-7 full hours which may vary depending on the daily leisure activities and actual weather conditions. Most of these activities will take place outdoors, but weather conditions will be taken into account.

Location

Accommodation
The accommodation will be in the beach house. There is one large room with beds. In the house there are toilets, a shower room, washing machine and a spacious kitchen with necessary equipment for cooking.

Participation fee
Due to lack of communal resources for this camp we ask participants to contribute 50 Euro towards the costs of general administration. This fee has to be paid by bank transfer before the beginning of the camp. If you cannot make bank transfer please contact your sending organization for solution.

Volunteers have to be motivated to work outdoors doing physical work under changing weather conditions. English is the camp language. Please bring your sleeping bags.

Leisure time
There are a lot of interesting natural picturesque sights in the area as well as good possibilities for swimming in the lake and hiking in the forest. On the beach there is a basketball court, volleyball court, barbecue area, camping and recreation area. It is possible to use boats, water bicycles, surfing wheels, paddleboards, balls, etc. There is an opportunity to visit Tartu, the second biggest city of Estonia, which is located just 48 km from Kuremaa https://visittartu.com/
