The organizer, Saarenaukon osakaskunta, is a community of local residents who share an interest in natural conservation

Description of work:

The work will include both renovation and environmental work and the volunteers should be prepared for physical work and motivated to do different tasks. The volunteers will maintain local landscape, tidy the environment and renovate old timber buildings in ecological way. As the work will be done outdoors in all weather conditions, the volunteers should be prepared with working clothes and shoes. This project is a great opportunity for learning about eco-friendly building skills and also about the culture and way of living in the Finnish archipelago and countryside.

Description of location and leisure:

The village of Mietoinen is located in the South coast of Finland.The nearest big town is Turku, from which the volunteers will be picked up by the host.

The nearest airport: TKU in Turku,Finland
The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Turku

Description of accomodation and food:

The volunteers will be staying in shared rooms in an old timber house at the camp side. The meals will be cooked together by the volunteers and host. Sauna and swimming will be available. During the free time there will be organized trips, for example a trip to Turku.

Description of specific requirements: The volunteers need travel insurance for the duration of their stay. It is possible to participate also in the previous Old Mietoinen I work camp before this camp.
