Lisca Bianca is a no-profit associations with the aim of promoting social and work inclusion of disadvantaged people. In 2016, the association recovered an historic sailing ship, called Lisca Bianca, with the contribution of young people from the penal area, people with drug addiction and unaccompanied foreign minors. Nowadays, the ship is used to carry on tourist sailing activities to support social initiatives. In December 2018 it opens up a space called "Scalo 5B" to citizens, associations, artisans, within which there is a shared social laboratory for working with wood and steel, where we want to repeat the activity of training on the job aimed at the most fragile people, and respond to the needs of the community by embellishing and making public spaces accessible with wood and metal furnishings. https://www.scalo5b.com/
Work

Volunteers will support the staff in embellishing Scalo 5B with small and simple maintenance jobs, with planting plants in self-made pots, etc. The volunteers will help in designing and producing urban decors destined for local community. The artifacts will be decorated by workcamp volunteers, jointly with local volunteers, and finally installed in the identified local area. In conjunction with the installation of urban furniture, a public event will be organized open to the entire citizenry. In addition, volunteers can take part in solidarity sailing activities promoted by the association in the Gulf of Palermo. For safety guaranty, professional machines will be used only by local technician.

Location & leisure
During free days, volunteers may visit the city of Monreale and/or Cefalù, or organise a walk to Monte Pellegrino, etc together with the team of Lisca Bianca or indipendently. In addition, volunteers can take part in solidarity sailing activities promoted by the association in the Gulf of Palermo.

Accommodation
Volunteers will be accommodated in the open space structure of Scalo 5B on inflatable matresses. The structure is furnished with 3 wc women, 3 wc men and 1 wc for disabled people. There will be solar camping showers outside. Free internet connection is available. A camping kitchen is provided at Sclao 5B where the volunteers will cook. Volunteers will need to bring their own sleeping bag.

Requirements
Interest in the use of Do-It-Yourself tools, manual-artistic skills. Project-related-ML included within the application form. Volunteers should be aware of a very basic condition.
