    The project
Le Terrain d’Aventure du Péri (The Adventure Playground of Péri) is an organisation, created in 1977. Passionate people, parents and neighbors offered to children a new space of freedom as an alternative to the technical progress and modernity. It is a place dedicated to self-development and community life, a place where children can learn and experiment without pressure.
Every day, between 10 and 60 children gather there to share outdoor games, table games, sheds building, do-it-yourself workshops, cooking activities, artistic projects and gardening. All these activities must help them to develop their autonomy, responsibility, critical thinking and solidarity.
The playground is recognized as a youth center by the French community of Belgium. It follows a mission of education to an active and responsible citizenship.
The adventure playground is open to all young people, from 5 to 26 years old.
Your support will help the centre promote healthy behaviour and well-being among families and kids (UN SDG 3 Good health and well-being, UN SDG4 Quality education).
    Website (in French) : www.taduperi.be/

    Work
Le Terrain d’Aventure du Péri is calling on international volunteers to realize an eco-responsible construction project on the organization ground. Supervised by a technical leader specialized in this type of construction, the volunteers, helped by the children and the young people who frequent the association, will build a “kerterre”, an ecological construction-sculpture in lime-hemp in a round shape (to give you an idea, it resembles the hobbit houses from Lord of the Rings) which will be used by children during activities in the field.
For this construction Le Terrain d’Aventure has all the needed equipment to work safely :
Thick, long rubber gloves for heavy work, which protect up to the elbow
    Anti-dust masks
    Protective glasses
    Protective suits

According to time other tasks can be renovate wood huts and build a dry toilet.
The team of Le Terrain d’Aventure thinks that international volunteers can help the young people of Le Terrain to open themselves thanks to the meeting of other cultures, mentalities and different beliefs.

    ● 위치

Le Terrain d’Aventure du Péri is a green space of 8,000 square meters, located in the “Coteaux de la Citadelle”, a ten-minute walk from the city center of Liège.
Called “La Cité Ardente”, Liège is, by number of inhabitants, the first Walloon urban area and known for its cultural abundance, its warm and festive atmosphere (especially in summer).
Culture, nature and gastronomy mixt themselves in Liège.
Not to be missed are the Liège-style meatballs, the regional beers and the Authentic Liège Waffle and after a walk in the famous Coteaux de la Citadelle (where Le Terrain d’Aventure is located) that will offer you tranquility and breathtaking views of the valley.
During the weekend, it will be possible to organize cultural visits in Liège or to travel to the biggest Belgian cities. Brussels, the capital, is an 1h away by train.

    Meeting Point
The 13th of July at Liège Saint-Lambert train station at 3.00pm.

    ● 숙박

The volunteers will sleep in a separate building from the main one, called “le chalet”. A small wooden cabin with mattresses on the floor. The floor of the chalet is already well insulated from the ground by soft carpets. In addition, they will install additional mattresses for sleeping during the construction period. They will install curtains to respect the privacy of each volunteer. Space in the cabin is quite limited (there is only space for mattresses and luggage).
In the main building, volunteers will have access to a shared living room with kitchen (volunteers will cook their meals together) and to the toilet. For showers, volunteers will use outdoor camping-style showers.
BEWARE that the accommodation conditions are really basic and not too comfortable.

    ● 언어

English. Some French to be in contact with the kids and the young people will be useful.

    ● 특별 요구사항

It’s compulsory to take sleeping bag, working clothes and working boots with you.

    The project
The Marche-en-Famenne workcamp is the outcome of the collaboration between municipal authorities and a local non-profit organization. More than twenty years ago, the mayor and deputies wanted to develop international contacts for the local youth. GRIMM association was just beginning to work on the protection of the local life framework and promoting models of sustainable development. Their members had a full load of ideas but were short of hands to realize them. Thus, they came to the idea of involving volunteers from all over the world. Since then, the municipality makes its buildings available every summer and welcomes foreign youngsters. GRIMM members organize the work. With the help from the volunteers, they are eventually able to realize the projects they dreamt about. Their actions are based on the following philosophy: Nature belongs to everyone. And if each of us may enjoy it, it has to be protected.
They organize workcamps for more than 20 years!!!
Your help will ensure the renovation and improvement of the rural landscape of Marche-en-Famenne (UN SDG 11 Sustainable cities and communities, UN SDG 15 Life on land).

    Work
Assisted by local technical leaders, the volunteer group will restore an old walking path in the forest by cleaning, building footbridges to step over streams of water and building benches and a covered rest area. This camp is the continuation of the project of the last summer where volunteers restore another path in the same area. This path is promoted by the tourism office and used by hundreds of walkers every year. In summer you will not see but in the autumn and winter this area is full of water cumulated with the rains and the footbridges you will build are really useful.
If you work fast, several other manual tasks are foreseen: repairing fences, repairing some shed for walkers, repairing stone walls and taking care of construction realized during previous workcamps.
If you like working with wood, screws and tools this is your workcamp!

BEWARE: This workcamp is based on manual and outdoor tasks which might be hard.

    ● 위치

Marche-en-Famenne is a city in the countryside and it is also CBB town! You can find everything there: schools, supermarkets, industries… But still, it is surrounded by woods, fields and small villages where the life rhythm remains rural. Liège, Namur, Brussels and Luxembourg can be easily reached by train in about one hour.
    For more information see: www.marche.be

    Meeting Point
The 10th of August at Marche-en-Famenne train station at 3.00pm.

    Food and accommodation
Accommodation can be compared to a boarding school (Saint François complex): a corridor with double bedrooms; toilets and showers are at the same floor. No smoking inside. A big common space is also available for indoor activities.
Self-catering. Bring your recipes to enjoy ‘kitchen life’!
The working place is not the same as the accommodation place so volunteers will leave the town every day.
Sleeping in town, working in the countryside.
