Description of the workcamp activities:
Overlooking the Gorges du Termenet, the site bears witness to the history of the Occitan lords won by the Cathar heresy and affected by the Albigensian Crusade. You will rebuild a dry stone wall to enhance the old entrance to the castle and / or you will save a wall of the village walls, while discovering the natural and heritage assets of the Corbières: Lagrasse Abbey, Quéribus, Carcassonne, swimming , hiking.

Description of the local REMPART association:
The Château de Termes Safeguarding Association, "Termes en Termenès" (ASCT), created by the inhabitants of the village, has been working since 1988 on the development of the Château de Termes, a pole site of the "Pays Cathare" program.

Located at the edge of the Ariège and Aude, the municipality of Chalabre is noted for its heritage and natural building. Chalabre was able to highlight the different buildings but also the vales of the Aude who crosses it. The village of Chalabre was born in Cathar country in the 12th century, its country house and its castle formed the heart of the village. Over the years two churches were built, as well as the Chapel of Calvary overlooking the village. The municipality does not neglect its assets puts in place throughout the summer period animations for the tastes of all. WORK: Here you will have the opportunity to work on the French historical heritage! Two projects will be run in parallel so that each volunteer can work on all the projects. The first project will take place in Notre Dame Church, where a cleaning of the woodwork will be done. Careful dusting and deposition of specific coatings should be established. You will be supervised to carry out your mission by a municipal employee. The second project will be organized around the restoration of crosses located on the way of the cross leading to the chapel of Calvary. Pamiers
- Chalabre organizes various cultural events throughout the summer. You will be invited to the book festival which will be held the first weekend of the workcamp, to a festival of art and music which will take place the last week of the workcamp. During your stay, you can visit the castle of Chalabre http://www.chateau-chalabre.com/, and that of Montségur http://www.montsegur.fr/accueil.vdom. You can also participate in the pétanque tournament and go refresh yourself in the river that runs through the village. You do not miss occupation and come to meet many inhabitants!

TERMINAL: Pamiers

You will be staying in a tent on the municipal campsite. You will have access to your toilet and meals at the football club, where you will find toilets, showers (stadium cloakroom) and a fully equipped kitchen. The meals will be prepared by volunteers: do not hesitate to bring back specialties or recipes to discover to other members of the group! You will be required to participate in daily tasks (kitchen, dishes, cleaning etc.). The site is located 5 and 15 minutes walk from the camp. You will be only 5 minutes from the heart of the village on foot, where you will find all the amenities (post office, tobacco, supermarket, bakery etc ...). The association can not take care of you if you arrive before the start date of construction, nor beyond the date of end of stay.

Situated in 900 above sea level in the heart of the Haute-Loire, Siaugues Sainte Marie is a small rural district often considered as a dynamic village. The wealth of the heritage built by the municipality offer a privileged and pleasant living conditions. With a protected natural environment, it is enthusiastically that the inhabitants and the local associations will receive you this summer.

WORK: Your mission during this workcamp is to preserve different elements of the building heritage of Siaugues. As the first mission you will act for the restauration of the washhouse.
In addition, the bread oven also requires intervention.
This project is a real opportunity to acquire manual craftsmanship in traditional masonry.
You will participate to the work with other international volunteers and a technical supervisor will teach you specific techniques concerning this restoration. The work takes place the morning for 5 hours maximum. Afternoon and weekends are dedicated to activities.

The diversity of the natural and built heritage of Besse-Et-Saint-Anastaise (the full name of the town) gives the town a special attraction. It is located in the heart of the Auvergne volcanoes situated on the Massif du Sancy (highest mountain in Auvergne) : the town is known for its Ski resort “Super Besse”. The town has assets that attract tourists invariably both during summer and winter. Besse is also distinguished by its human dynamics, number of associations and events dynamise the area throughout the year. It is with enthusiasm that the inhabitants and the local associations will receive you in this authentic village!

WORK: The village is crossed by a river taking its source in one of the deepest lakes of Europe, the lake pavin. On the banks of this river called Couze pavin you can find old water mills : two century ago men once installed water mills to use the energy offered by the river. These mills are now in ruins but it needs to be saved ! Your mission will be to preserve these mills: cleaning sites (vegetation invades) and traditional masonry work. This project has a real interest in preserving the history written by the men of the past.
You will participate to the work with other international volunteers and a technical supervisor will teach you specific techniques concerning this restoration. The work unfolds the morning for 5 hours maximum. Afternoon and weekends are dedicated to activities.

Clermont-ferrand
- Besse is considered as one of the most beautiful sites of the Auvergne region. The village is a part of the Natural Regional Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne. It is located in the Massif du Sancy born 5 millions years ago. The village benefits of a preserved environment and great landscapes made up of volcanoes and lakes. Besse is 1hour away from Clermont-Ferrand. You will be proposed some activities during your stay: visits, excursions, hiking, swimming…

TERMINAL: Clermont-Ferrand

You will be accommodated in an exceptional setting in small cottage. Mattresses provided. Bring your sleeping bag, extra blankets and warm clothes for the night (around 1000 meters high, nights could be cold). Equipped kitchen where you will prepare you meals. Many shops in the village of Besse. Jeunesse et Reconstruction will not be responsible for you if you arrive before the beginning of the project.

Vallet is a charming and small village of Charente-Maritime that has been hosting international workcamps for 20 years. For its twentieth workcamp, the town hall has organized this workcamp to animate the ancient and religious heritage of the village, as well as to bring fresh air into the first workcamps organized in Vallet. The continuation of the restoration of the Crypt is a large scale project, that was started in 2017. The town and its residents are eager to welcome you, and to experience cultural exchange moments with you. We are looking forward for your arrival to make this workcamp a rich and wonderful experience.

Work: You will work on the restoration of a crypt located underneath the choir of a 12th century village church. Accompanied by a technical supervisor, the work will consist of removing the lime paint, in order to uncover the religious paintings from the 15th century hidden underneath. Then, you will be led to do a small job of traditional lime-stone masonry work on each wall inside the crypt (closing and rejoining). You will also work on the stone, cleaning and restoring it.

Leisure Activities: At the crossroad of several charming villages of the south Saintonge, you can enjoy the local heritage by visiting one of the several Romanesque churches. Outside of working hours, you will be able participate in festive activities, and discover the night markets as well as visit local producers and taste their products. Visits to the towns of Bordeaux or La Rochelle and a day at the sea can be organized. The French vineyard towns of Cognac and St Emilion are also nearby!

Located in the heart of the Hautes-Pyrénées, the town of Sarp will host this summer its first international volunteer Workcamp! The volunteer project will be organized around the restoration of the Grange Foraine. Engaging in the preservation and promotion of their built and environmental heritage, Sarp seeks to introduce its territory to new generations. In a privileged environment, with a preserved natural environment, a dozen associations federate the population around various activities such as sports, plastic arts or culture. WORK: Located on the discovery trail, about 15 minutes walk, the Grange Foraine is under renovation recently. She has already had the opportunity to welcome various groups of volunteers to work on her restoration, such as a local association or a group of young college students who came to discover the local flora and fauna. Indeed the discovery trail allows for an hour to explore the surroundings and enjoy thanks to the explanatory panels secrets of the surrounding nature.
This years workcamp will consist of restoring the stone walls of the barn. Work on consolidating the walls and paving the interior of the building will be implemented with the help of local volunteers. You will have to go up the 4 walls of the barn so that next year the next volunteers can install the roof of it! A real work on French heritage awaits you!

Montréjeau-gourdan-polignan
- The valley of Barousse where the village of Sarp is located offers visitors an entrance to the heart of the Pyrenees. You will discover during your walks the landscapes that structure the valley. This town of a hundred inhabitants, you can access many sports activities such as archery or climbing, installed and organized by local associations. For the cultural side and French heritage you will be only 1km from St Bertrand de Comminges and its medieval town, and a few minutes’ drive from the castle of Bramevaque. Swimming, hiking, and exchange with locals will punctuate your leisure!

TERMINAL: Montréjeau-Gourdan-Polignan

You will be lodged under tents at the bottom of the discovery trail. The site of the camp is in the heart of the village, next to the multipurpose room. You will have access to the toilets and showers of the multipurpose room as well as the kitchen to make your meals. The meals will be prepared by volunteers: do not hesitate to bring back specialties or recipes to discover to other members of the group! You will be required to participate in daily tasks (kitchen, dishes, cleaning etc.). The construction site is 15 minutes walk from the camp, and it can only be reached on foot.
The association can not take care of you if you arrive before the start date of construction, nor beyond the date of end of stay.

Come to Salins-les-Bains, a small typical town in the French Jura, for an incredible experience! Salins is a welcoming town which has an impressive natural, gastronomic, and architectural heritage, such as the famous UNESCO listed salt works; you will have the chance to take part in the enhancement of local heritage by taking part in this project! For the fourth summer in a row, this project will be organized with the Community Center for Social Actions that is running this project and hopes to set up many interactions between the international volunteers and the local population during the camp.

WORK: The town owns a land plot in the centre that the representatives of the Community Center for Social Actions wishes to transform into a community garden. In order to secure the access to the future garden, the municipality needs to renovate the fortification wall under there with the help of an international volunteers’ team. You will help renovate an ancient fortification using traditional masonry techniques: removing old coatings, jointing, and rebuilding some destroyed parts of the wall. You will be trained and supervised by a specialist who will happily share with you his knowledge and expertise. Please don’t forget to bring strong and closed shoes and clothes for the work! You will work 5 hours a day, in the morning, 5 days a week.

Mouchard
- Located in the charming valley of La Furieuse, in the heart of the Jura region, Salins-les-Bains is a little typical town of Franche-Comté that has over 3000 inhabitants. Overlooked by two ancient forts and the Mount Poupet, the town owns a rich cultural and natural heritage, as well as beautiful buildings which show the glorious past of this “saline city”; among them the UNESCO world heritage “Saline building”. Salins-les-Bains developed with extraction and commercialization of salt and hosts nowadays many spa-goers. Possible leisure activities for the group: visit of the town, of the Salt museum, hiking in the surrounding mountains, swimming, shared meals and parties with locals, visit of a vineyard etc. You will be in charge of organizing an international meal for the inhabitants during your stay; please do not forget to bring specialties and traditional recipes from your country, as well as pictures, music, trinkets, costumes etc. to share your culture! Accommodation will be in the Golden Tower (Tour Dorée), another architectural beauty in Salins. You will be closed to the workplace. You will find a space for preparing meals, eating, showering, and using the toilets. You will also have access to a garden and a terrace. You can have the choice to sleep inside or in the garden with tents. Jeunesse et Reconstruction will provide tents and ground mattresses, but please don’t forget to bring your sleeping bag and bed sheet. Meals will be prepared by volunteers for the whole group. Do not hesitate to bring ingredients and recipes to show your country’s gastronomy. You will participate in the daily tasks and the group organization: cooking, washing dishes, cleaning. We cannot take care of you if you arrive before the starting date of the project, or if you stay after.

International workcamps of young volunteers, carried out previously in the village of Antichan de Frontignes having been a success, the mayor wants to host a new international workcamp to implement concrete actions to improve the living environment and to integrate volunteers to the local life and especially during the village festival (popular annual event...). The residents will give you a warm welcome and expect many exchanges with you.

WORK: You will participate in various works in the village (pruning, weeding, cleaning of footpaths...) and you will also participate in the organization, conduct and closure of the local festival that animates and mobilizes every year much of the population over this period.

Montrejeau-gourdan-polignan
- 580 m altitude, 87 residents, Antichan of Frontignes is a small rural village at the foot of the chain of Pyrenees near the Spanish border, surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery. Animation: the site is rather isolated but offers many opportunities for hiking, visiting the beautiful local built heritage, sports; possibility of swimming in the lake near the village ... and the village is very lively during the festival.

TERMINAL: Montrejeau-Gourdan-Polignan

You will stay in tents near the village. Sanitation (toilets and showers) are available nearby. The association provides tents and sleeping pads. Bring your towel and sleeping bag. We cannot pick you if you arrive before the start of camp.

The municipality of Bramevaque and the district council of Barousse are mobilized to maintain and to restore the remains of the castle of the “Earls of Comminges” which attracts many visitors. For 21 years now, the small village of Bramevaque has been hosting international workcamps every summer which makes it possible to carry out this task and to create an original event in the village.

WORK: Supervised by an experienced mason, you will continue the conservation of the remains of the castle of the Earls of Comminges: clearing of the overgrowth, masonry, building of small stone walls. The site hosts several hundreds of visitors in the summer months.

Montrejeau-gourdan-polignan
- Bramevaque is a small rural village of 30 inhabitants, at the foot of the Pyrenees mountains which mark the border with Spain. The site offers beautiful landscapes and view points. The Barousse valley is one of the most remarquable valleys of the Pyrenees; it is also on the itinerary of the “Tour de France” cycling race. Possible free time activities : hiking, swimming in the river, visit of prehistorical caves, the famous abbey of St Bertrand de Comminges, the watersports resort of Antignac, the Barousse museum. You will stay in tents in the grounds of the castle. Important: housing conditions are very simple and rudimentary (dry toilets and solar showers), notice to the lovers of peace and nature. Access to the castle is only by foot (10 minute steep path from the village, watch out for your travel bags - prefer a backpack). We cannot accommodate you if you arrive before the starting date of the workcamp.

Description of the workcamp activities:
Get involved in the restoration of a villa of the late nineteenth century that has retained most of its original style. The restoration tasks will require to work on scaffolding for the restoration of the brick façade. You will also contribute to the maintenance and development of the garden typical of the “rococo style”. Outdoor activities, inter-workcamps meetings and visits to the heritage of the region! Paris is not far so transportation up to the site will be easy for none experimented travellers.

Description of the local REMPART association:
First regional group of REMPART movement to emerge following the will of decentralization of the National Union in the 80s, the Group REMPART Ile-de-France dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the heritage in the region Ile-de- France. It now counts 20 local associations. The Association is accredited Youth and Popular Education. Groupement REMPART Ile-de-France intends to help the emergence of new structures to safeguard and enhance heritage and convey its expertise to new member associations. The group REMPART Ile-de-France is also working to advertise the activities of its members at regional level through the establishment and activation of a network of external partners.
