Le Quartier des Générations is an innovative and community-oriented seniors’ residence. It allows people from different generations to meet thanks to its collective spaces, unifying activities and different housing types. With its unique approach, the organization wants to inspire other senior living environments across Quebec.

Le Quartier des Générations wants to revitalize its site. Volunteers will do landscaping and build various equipment to improve the available services and activities. They will also participate in many social events alongside the elderly, where volunteers and participants can share life stories.

TASKS
 Construction of a winter hiking trail
 Holding SKI outdoor social activities (adapted for wheelchairs) with the elders of the Quartier des Générations
 Preparation of seedlings for the garden in preparation for spring
 Indoor social activities with seniors
 Preparation and participation in the 2020 winter wonderland
 Provides computer support to seniors to break isolation

Volunteers will be sleeping in a brand new community room. They will have access to a cafeteria on week days but will have to cook their own meals on weekends. They will have access to Wi-Fi.

The games are held every three years, and are taking place in Victoria, British-Columbia, in July 2020. In addition to encouraging hundreds of young people to exercise their talents in one of three sectors (art, leadership and sport), the Games showcase cultural pride, self-confidence and leadership abilities in a friendly, competitive setting. The Games provide extraordinary encounters; an exciting francophone experience; and a schedule rich in festivities.

Every evening, the Canadian FG will host socio-cultural events for all participants and volunteers. These events will take place in popular venues across Victoria. We are also developing partnerships with a number of tourism agencies that will allow young volunteers to discover the westernmost city in the country.

Tribune Bay Outdoor Education Centre provides its visitors with a variety or educational and adventure programming in a beautiful setting. The activities are intended for youth, families and private organizations. These outdoor adventures allow visitors to experience nature first hand, to discover their full potential, and to learn to adapt to new and changing environments.

The Heritage Society’s mission is to contribute to the historical protection and revitalization of this unique community. They are also devoted to researching and sharing the region’s history. Working with a volunteer group allows the Heritage Society to accomplish more work than they could ever image on their own.

LOCAL ORGANIZATION: The Héritage Kinnear’s Mills society’s missions are to showcase the Kinnear’s Mills village’s historic site and to honour the rich cultural heritage that their founders left behind them. At this moment, the community’s limited human and financial resources mean it requires a helping hand from volunteers.

WORK :
The Héritage Kinnear’s Mills society needs volunteers to restore old buildings and promote tourism development. It wants to return the Anglican church, an important historic site for the local community, to its former glory. During this project, woodwork skills will be acquired. Most of the work will be done on the church and in its vicinity.

The small rural village of Kinnear’s Mills is surrounded by mountains and crossed by the Osgood River. It has preserved its picturesque charm with several historic buildings, including the former English school and four churches—United, Anglican, Methodist and Catholic—which are all located on the same street corner!

The town of La Conception has 1,300 citizens and is crossed along its length by the Rouge River. Several lakes and mountains are on its territory, including the Boisseau Lake and the Montagne d’Argent, two locations popular with outdoor, hiking and rock climbing enthusiasts.

Description of work:

La Conception wishes to highlight its little-known natural jewels by improving its infrastructure for better accessibility. Buildings providing access to Boisseau Lake need upgrades in order to improve user experience and create a more welcoming space.

The outdoor centre Le Saisonnier provides a memorable experience in an enchanting setting for everyone. It offers various cultural, sports, community and leisure activities. It operates, develops and maintains the necessary facilities for them. It also has programs oriented towards education, sports and relaxation for people of all age in the area.

The organization needs volunteers to revamp on-site buildings so it can welcome everyone safely.

Lac-Beauport is dynamic and offers a wide range of leisure activities. Surrounded by woods, lakes, rivers and mountains, this city is a destination favourite for outdoor enthusiasts. It is located 25 km from the national capital, which is known for its rich culture and heritage.

Project: The international volunteers will help provide social and recreational summer day camp program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in the Comox Valley. The children, ages 10-15 years, are quite high functioning in certain areas, but often struggle with social skills and the mastery of appropriate communication and behaviour. The project will include one week intensive training of the volunteers followed by the 2week day camp with the kids.

Work: The volunteers will learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how to support these children in a social/recreational program. Under the direction of the campleader, the volunteers will support the children to participate in small group activities such as planning and performing skits which explore daily life with ASD, preparing lunch meals, exploring the community on daily outings including local lakes, rivers, beaches and farms, etc. The group work is intended to provide children with specific tasks and encourage both appropriate social and communication skills. Volunteers will also help to create a handbook about summer activities for youth in the Comox Valley drawing on the experiences of the workcamp. The volunteers involved in this project will gain valuable insight into the world of autism.

Stretching along the eastern coast of Vancouver Island, the Comox Valley is a collection of rolling mountains, alpine meadows, rushing rivers, pristine lakes, lush forests, fertile farms, sandy beaches and green parks. The City of Courtenay (20,000 inhabitants) is the urban and cultural hub of the Comox Valley with its downtown considered to be one of the most vibrant and charming downtowns on Vancouver Island and an incredible cultural district that includes theatre, art gallery, museums and paleontology centre.

The Base de Plein Air Jean-Jeune offers summer and winter camps for youth aged 5 to 16. Known for its crazy themes and outdoor activities, the centre allows people who have never left urban areas to discover nature for the first time.

Description of work:

The work project will allow volunteers to do manual labour and general maintenance work on the grounds and buildings of the camp. It will also improve the experience for the 2,000 and plus children and their family who visit the camp. The goal is to restore the current infrastructure and develop new services for clients who are mainly from the city.

he camp is located in the town of Amherst, where there are three main villages—Vendée in the west and Saint-Rémi-d’Amherst and Rockway Valley in the east. A delight for residents and vacationers alike is the many lakes and outdoor activities in the area.
