Background: The project takes place at SLB Negeri 1 Badung in Bali (Bali Badung Disable School). The school is located
in Badung Regency close to the city of Denpasar. The SLB Negeri 1 Badung Bali provides basic education services to
students with special needs of deaf (tunarungu) and mentally disabled (tunagrahita). The school has 3 different level
from Elementary school /SDLB (age 6 – 12 years old) which has 6 classes, Junior High School / SMPLB (age 13-15
years old) which has 3 classes VII,VIII and IX. The Senior High School / SMALB ( age16 – 18 years old) which has 3
classes X,XI,XII. In total the school has around 230 students assisted by around 50 teachers. In class, students study
general subjects such as social studies, science, culture, sport and language. Apart from that, students are also taught
advanced skills according to their talents and interests to prepare them for living independently and being ready to
compete in society. They learn some life learning skills such as making handicraft, cooking, dance, beauty salon. The
project aims are to give sufficient education for disable child, give good quality of education for disabled and give
basic skills for them that hopefully will be useful for their future

Work: The role of the volunteer will be assisting local teacher in conducting hands on learning activity in order to
stimulate children motoric and skill. The volunteer will assist local teacher (shadowing teaching) in the class by
conducting some related lesson, supporting students practicing skills, assiting making homework, interaction etc. In
this case, the volunteer should be creative in creating activity. Moreover, the presence of volunteers could give them
understanding about another culture and country. Intercultural learning in the form of dialogue, music and games
could give the student better understanding to learn about another culture from other country; Cleaning the area
of the school / dormitory such as cutting grass, cutting the bushes, helping the students cleaning the dormitory,
gardening etc

Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special
focus on the local culture particularities in Bali. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.

Leisure Time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit the diverse exciting attraction in Bali
which has been popular all over the world. The volunteers may visit temples, beaches, handicraft making center or
traditional market.

Volunteer: The project will be run ONLY if the minimum participants are 5 people; maximum volunteer is 10 people

project takes place in Western Bali area Dejavato which can be reached by car or bus around 4-5 hours from
Denpasar, the capital of Bali Province. It is not like in the Central Bali island that put tourism industry as the main
income, but in Western Bali has more rice farm and plantation. It has a busy seaport in Gilimanuk as a gateway that
connecting Bali and Java island through Bali sea. The workcamp mainly will take place in local school from level of
Elementary (age 6 – 12 yo) or Junior High (13 – 15 yo) or Senior High School (16-18 yo). It is not like in the Central
Bali which put tourism industry as the main income, in Western Bali they have less tourist and less foreign visitors,

Meeting Point and Time: 1.When you arrive in Ngurah Rai International Airport, just get out from the arrival gate. Then walk to find the taxi counter. You can find the taxi there and ask the driver to drive you to Narada Hotel. It cost up to IDR 200.000 and takes for about 45 minutes. Most of the taxi in the airport do not use meter, sometimes you should bargain with the driver. But if by chance you can also find the taxi with meter. I would like to recommend you to take Bali Taxi or Blue Bird Taxi. You also can take the public bus called Trans Sarbagita Bus.2.From MENGWI Bus Terminal please find mini bus signed for DENPASAR-NEGARA destinations. There are various kinds of bus in this destination such as GUNUNG HARTA, BAHAGIA, SEHATI BUANA RAYA etc. It takes you for about 3 - 5 hours to get Negara Bus Station. It costs you for about IDR 550.000 ( 70.000.3.When you arrived in Negara Bus Station already please wait in the meeting point as mentioned before. Our camp leader will be there at least 15 minutes before.

Background and Aims of the Project.
Jembrana is one of regencies in Bali Island. It is located in the west part of Bali Island. Jembrana can be reached for 3 hours by car or bus from Denpasar. Different from the capital city of Denpasar, Jembrana is a peaceful and quite place. There are a lot of rice fields stretches along the regency. Moreover, the local community is very open and warm to the visitors. We have been conducting some projects at Elementary, Junior and Senior High School in this area. This year, Dejavato initiates to hold workcamp projects again in some schools in this area. The students are educated with basic studies for Math, Languages, Social, Science, Art and Music.
School hourstarts from 7 am – 2 pm, Monday to Saturday. After the school hour, the students are recommended to involve in several extra curricular such as sport, art, scout, computer and traditional dance.
We would like to host foreign volunteers because we believe that their interaction with the children, during education and vocational classes will be of great benefit for the students, teachers as well as the local people. The intercultural dimension that their presence will generate and will also be welcomed and valued by the local staffs. The support that the volunteers will give to our teaching staff, particularly those teaching English, will be invaluable.


[EDUCATION]
The role of the volunteers will be assisting local teacher in classes. Volunteers will perform language teaching and life skills program for the students by assisting the local teacher in class such as English teaching and other languages. The volunteer is encouraged to be creative, flexible, patient and independent especially to motivate the students to speak up. The volunteer is also very welcome to create new idea and method to teach English for students. To bring English book in your language as guidance how to teach is also very welcome.

[PHYSICAL WORK]
In the afternoon, volunteers will have physical work at school. This manual work will be done after lunch at 14:00 – 16.00. Furthermore, volunteers will have a chance to do sports and games together with local teenagers.
Your working day is from Monday to Friday. While Saturday and Sunday are days off for you. During the free day, if you want to travel for sightseeing you have to cover the transport and food by yourself. The working hours are about 6 to 7 hours a day. The school usually starts at
07.00 am till 14:00 pm.

Note: For your information, the working style of Indonesian people is different with people in your country as well as the system. You will see quite often “rubber time” (means not on time), people working relax not in a rush, changing schedule quite often, not scheduled in advance, incidental activities etc. Please be patient and understand.

Jembrana is one of Regency in Bali Island. It is located in the west part of Bali Island. Jembrana can be reached for 2 hours by car or bus from Denpasar. Different from the capital city of Denpasar, Jembrana is peaceful and quite place. There are a lot of rice fields stretches along the regency. Moreover, the local community is very opened and warm to the visitors

Facilities: Signal for cell phone, electricity 220 Volt, traditional market and shops, hospital, basic local food, public transportation.

The volunteers will stay at local host family. Men and women will stay in the separated rooms. Both for man and women volunteers better bring their own sleeping bag. The house is facilitated with bathroom, closet, water, and kitchen. Since Indonesia is quite humid and has hot weather, the mosquitoes are serious problem for some of you. Please bring your own mosquitoesrepellent or mosquitoes net protect your skin.

The food will be served (providing service) but the volunteers also very welcome to help the cook to prepare the food. Most of the cooking food will be based on basic local Indonesian cuisine. Please do not expect too much for western cook, and we will not provide any western food. Please respect the local food. If you cannot eat the local food,
please manage and adapt yourself. Never compare the quality of the food from your country with Indonesian food!!! You will eat rice 3 times in a day!!
The host organization will not reimburse and responsible for your additional personal food during your stay for the project (like candy, snack, soft drink, mineral water in the bottle and so on). You have to cover the expenses by yourself.

Dejavato decides to conduct the project in the west part of Bali Island and it can be reached for 3 hours by car or bus from Denpasar. It is not like in the east part of Bali island that put tourism industry as the main income, but it has more rice farm and plantation also the biggest fish commodity in Bali island that produce various kind of fishes that also exported to other countries. It has a busy seaport in Gilimanuk as a gateway that connecting Bali and Java island through Bali sea. Since most of the area is mountainous and it consists of primary monsoon forest, it has west Bali national park with the total area of 19.000 ha as the important place for conserving rare and endangered animals like birds, cattle as well as rare plants.
In collaborating with Educational Department Affairs, Dejavato has conducted several workcamp projects at junior high schools since 2010 as main activity at school from 7 am until 1 pm, Monday to Saturday. We accommodate the need from local students to have opportunity to interact with foreigners and increasing communication ability among students and teachers.

Work: The volunteers will assist to help teachers to teach students simple basic English and introduce some English kids songs. The volunteers will also do simple renovation to the school such as making bookshelf for a library and painting the classroom. They will also involve in other activities like cultural exchange and playing with the kids after the school hour in several extracurricular such as sport, art, scout, music and traditional dance.

Background: Bali Island is popular as the island of gods and very famous with culture and nature attraction. Dejavato decides to conduct the project in the west part of Bali Island and it can be reached for 3 hours by car or bus from Denpasar. It is not like in the east part of Bali island that put tourism industry as the main income, but it has more rice farm and plantation also the biggest fish commodity in Bali island that produce various kind of fishes that also exported to other countries. It has a busy seaport in Gilimanuk as a gateway that connecting Bali and Java island through Bali sea. Since most of the area is mountainous and it consists of primary monsoon forest, it has west Bali national park with the total area of 19.000 ha as the important place for conserving rare and endangered animals like birds, cattle as well as rare plants.
In collaborating with Educational Department Affairs, Dejavato has conducted several workcamp projects at local schools since 2010 as main activity at school from 7 am until 1 pm, Monday to Saturday. We accommodate the need from local students to have opportunity to interact with foreigners and increasing communication ability among students and teachers.

Work: The volunteers will assist to help teachers to teach students simple basic English and introduce some English kids songs. The volunteers will also do simple renovation to the school such as making bookshelf for a library and painting the classroom. They will also involve in other activities like cultural exchange and playing with the kids after the school hour in several extracurricular such as sport, art, scout, music and traditional dance.

Study theme: The volunteers will be introduced to the Indonesian culture and customs in general, with a special focus on the local culture particularities in Bali. Some cultural visits are also foreseen.

Leisure Time: During free time, the volunteers will have the chance to visit the diverse exciting attraction in Buleleng and Bali which has been popular all over the world. The volunteers may visit beaches, temples, handicraft making centre or traditional market.
