The Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) began in 2014 as the CYA Learning Center (CLC), with the aims to promote higher education among local children and teenagers, preserve and protect local cultural heritage, and improve the living conditions of local people.
Volunteers have been the cornerstone of CSD’s success. They started by building bamboo classrooms, designing our beautiful library and stocking it with thousands of books, donating computers for our computer classes, and teaching English, music, arts, and sports to local students. Remarkably, all our services are offered free of charge. In addition to supporting our non-formal education programs, volunteers play a crucial role in engaging the community. They help organize events and ceremonies to preserve local cultural heritage and foster community spirit. The presence of volunteers has brought significant changes to the lives of local people. Improvements in hygiene and sanitation, the growth of small grocery shops, and enhanced family incomes are just a few examples. At CSD, volunteers not only contribute to the community but also gain invaluable experiences. They learn about the local lifestyle, adapt to local living conditions, make friends, expand their global network, and discover their career and life goals.
In essence, volunteers initiated CLC and have been pivotal in transforming the community while also experiencing personal growth and learning. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partners for their continuous support and for sending us motivated volunteers
Description of work:
Volunteers are going to work in various activities such organizing ceremonies and events with local people, teaching English, music, arts, and sports to children, and working vegetable garden at Center for Sustainable Development (CSD).
Volunteers who participate in CLC and TFC project, we would like to suggest you
to flight to Phnom Penh Int’l airport. For those who arrive earlier you can come to
CYA office (see the map below). There are several means of transportation you can
take in Phnom Penh such PassApp, Grab, Buses, and others. Grab is the most
convenient way to find our office so you can download the app to your phone and
use it. The map below will show you how to get to the office or you go Grab apps
and type "Cambodian Youth Action" as you destination. The fee from airport by
Grab around 2$ and with other means of transporttion should not be more than 5$.
We will leave from our office around 12:30 & 13:30 but we can get gather at the
office earlier for lunch (we only prepare lunch for those who inform us in advance
that they are coming for lunch). Otherwise we would like to ask volunteers to arrive
at our office between 11:30 - 12:00am.
Description of accommodation and food:
Volunteer will stay together at volunteer's house inside the village. Food will be prepared by local chef but you will be asked to serve, clean, and wash dishes by yourself.

After 4 years of progress, we are now transforming CYA - Learning Center (CLC) into the Center for Sustainable Development (CSD) where we will expand our work from education into community development. The center will include activities such as vegetable farm, solar installation, and improve the quality and expand the market for soap products. Of course, we are continuing to improve our education program for local children and teenagers. We will include computers, arts, and music into its existing English classes. CSD is located in a remote area of Kampot province. It takes about 2 hours 30 minutes from Phnom Penh. We are looking forward to working with you and your volunteers!

DCC believes that through voluntary service, we will be able to create a better future for our local children and teenagers while helping local people to protect and preserve their protect forest in the area of their management. Above activities will also provide you a lots of exciting experience and life learning for yourself as well .
Description of work:
Volunteers are going to participate in different activities such as teaching English and computer for DCC students, organize sport activities with teenagers, and participate in social development and environmental protection with local people. Beside, volunteers will also have opportunity to learn from local community through community challenge & mapping and learn from other volunteers through sharing sessions and free time activities organize by camp leader during the camp.
Description of location and leisure:
There are plenty of tourist attraction sites located in or nearby Battambang province for example: Phnom Sampov, Prasat Phnom Banan, Phnom Yat, and more. . Volunteer can explore by themselves during their free day. DCC is not far from Battambang city therefore, beside your free day touring you can also have fun by interacting with local people, teenagers and children during your free time by organizing different activities so bring your flexibility and creativity.

Volunteer will stay together at a hosting family inside the village. Food will be prepared by hosting family but they will be asked to serve, clean, and wash dishes by yourself. three meals per day will be provided with the basic Cambodian dishes.

Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:
Trapaing Sangke Fishing Community (TFC) is a community based organization aims at preserve and protect mangrove forest to maintain ecology system and increase lives in the sea such as crap, fish, shrimp, etc. so that fishermen can stay and earn income in their community without migrate to other countries. CYA have been working with TFC since 2012 to support their initiative and through our cooperation in 2014, TFC became a popular eco - tourism site receiving hundreds of tourists every weeks. TFC is a successful project because of the strong support of our volunteers and as usual volunteers are still in needs to work hand in hand with local people in supporting its growth and to make sure local people will keep TFC cleans and more mangroves are plants and nursing.
Description of work:
Organize workshops with local people to promote the understanding of mangroves forest to people lives and collect mangrove seeds, seedling, and planting mangroves in TFC protected area while maintaining the planted mangroves.
Description of location and leisure:
Volunteer will stay together in share bungalows at community center that CYA rents. Volunteers will cook your own food while daily cooking team will be established in the beginning of the project. Food will be local dishes.

CYA – Global EDUCATION CENTER (GEC) aims at providing free alternative education for children and teenagers to develop their self - confident, support them in creating their dream for the future, and to make education their first priority. At the same time, children and teenagers enroll in GEC get free access to learn languages, computer, and to have access to global education/information through internet and our library. The center is located in Svay Thom Village, Prasat Bakong district, Siem Reap province. We welcome all motivated volunteers to join us in making change in this community and learn great thing from this community as well .
Description of work:
Volunteers will working on organizing different workshop, training, and activities to support students learning and development. Volunteers will also teaching english to students and join construction activities to renovate GEC classroom, beautify the campus, and build building for GEC office, library, and computer room.
Description of location and leisure:
Siem Reap is city of world heritages including a very famous Angkor Wat. More than a hundred of ancient temples are located in Siem Reap province so you can easily using your free time. GEC is at open space so you can also have fun by interacting with local people, teenagers and children during your free time by organizing different activities so bring your flexibility and creativity.
