    Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:

    In 2000, 12 internationally renowned artists realised ideas and thoughts on the theme of borders - dividing and uniting - in sculptures. Embedded in the marvellous landscape of the High Rhine, this path is a cultural symbol of friendship and connects the places on both sides of the river and the German-Swiss border. https://skulpturenweg.de/

    Now, almost 25 years after its construction, the sculpture trail needs some maintenance. The citizens of Hohentengen would be delighted if this is done with the help of international volunteers completely in the spirit of the path's artistic message.

    Description of work:

    Over water - over land: this is the name of Europe's first cross-border sculpture trail. You will take care of several sculptures on the German-Swiss sculpture trail and restore them to their original state. Weather and people have left their mark: The stone of the sculptures needs to be brushed to remove moss and lichen, and some sculptures are also sprayed with graffiti. For others, the subsurface needs to be renewed or maintained. The explanatory plates for the objects will also be replaced. In addition, you will completely renew the barbecue area, which is part of the 9km long trail. This area is intended to invite people to combine arts, nature and community.

    Description of the partner organizing/hosting the project:

    The community of Lauchringen is going to host an international workcamp for the fifth time. The project will take place in cooperation with the “Familienzentrum” (family centre). The family centre offers various programs for people of all ages to meet, exchange and educate themselves. In 2018, they built the “Adventure Land”: A big house with sleeping facilities, a kitchen, sanitary facilities, a workshop space, and a big common room. The place offers an afternoon program for children and youngsters and hosts groups during school holidays. The Adventure Land is a very special and inclusive place, from which everyone has something to learn! By participating in this work camp, you are actively supporting inclusive education (SDG 4).

    Description of work:

    This year, the Family Center and, more generally, the community of Lauchringen, are counting on your help to continue the work of previous workcamp groups. You will work on improving the outdoor infrastructure of the "Adventure Land", an inclusive place for children and school groups. In addition, you will improve, maintain and beautify some of the town's public spaces.

    In the Adventure Land, you will:
    1.Build up some wooden huts, which will be used for the children’s holiday programme in the Adventure land. This year’s programme will have “Circus” as the main theme, so the huts will be designed accordingly;
    2.Maintain and improve the Adventure Land’s garden. Your tasks will be for instance to build up raised garden beds, to take care of the vegetable garden, to weed and plant flowers;
    3.Do other building works, depending on the Adventure Land’s team’s plans. These will involve working with wood, nailing, screwing, sanding down and painting.

    In other parts of Lauchringen you will:
    1.Remove invasive water plants from the banks of the Wutach River to preserve biodiversity. Since "Springkraut" (Himalayan balsam) multiplies very quickly and endangers other native species, it is important to remove it from the riverbanks to protect local flora and fauna.
    2.Build a bench in the "Generations Park" behind the Family Center. This bench will be there to promote social interaction while hiding the front of the underground parking lot, which is considered not very pretty by the residents of Lauchringen.

    The work will be led by a professional instructor, so no previous experience is needed. You will work around 30 hours per week, somewhere between 8am to 4pm from Monday to Friday with a lunchbreak.

    Description of accommodation and food:

    You will live inside the building on the “Adventure Land”: There are two big rooms with sleeping mats which can be separated by gender, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities. Please, bring a sleeping bag. There is also a big common room that you can use for your activities. On most days, groups of children will come to the Adventure Land in the afternoon, and you will need to share the common room and the sanitary facilities with them. The two rooms for sleeping, however, are private and reserved only for your group. Have a look at pictures of the new building and area here. In the Adventure Land, there is a washing machine, which can be used in agreement with the local workers, and there is Wifi.

    ● 주요내용

    In this camp you will help out the community of Haunsheim by renovating parts of the local cultural heritage, maintain infrastructure and complete environmental tasks. The work includes a lot of manual work in order to:
    ● renovate a barn house which was built in the Middle Ages and is part of the local cultural heritage;
    ● maintain two playgrounds used by the local children.
    You will also help the environment by:
    ● fostering and raising a hedge with natural plants and plants with healing properties, which also serve animals as a place of shelter;
    ● helping to build a dry-stone wall, at some parts along the hedge.

    The municipality of Haunsheim is more than happy to host its first international work camp. All your work will contribute to making Haunsheim more attractive and sustain their local heritage, while helping the environment and wildlife at the same time (UN SDG 11 and 15). The local community will be happy to welcome you with open arms and is keen to learn about your different cultures.

    ● 위치

    Haunsheim is a small rural village with roughly 1600 inhabitants. The community lies in Bavaria and belongs to the southern German cultural region of Swabia. For its size, Haunsheim has a lot of beautiful old architecture - like a small chateau - to offer. Also, the landscape surrounding it is typical for south Germany and mostly untouched, so it is perfect to be explored by hiking.

    ● 숙박

    Accommodations will usually be in schools, gyms, youth centres, scouts huts or similar. In general, there are basic conditions but all facilities like kitchen, toilets and showers are available. If not, it is mentioned in the description.

    NEXT TRAIN STATION: Dillingen (Donau)
    NEXT INTERNATIONAL TRAIN STATIONS: Stuttgart or Munich
    NEXT AIRPORTS, in case you really need to fly: Stuttgart (STR), Augsburg (AGB), Munich (MUC)

    ● 언어

    English is the camp language in most IBG camps. It is important that volunteers speak at least basic English! If the camp language is not English, a special mention is made in the project description.

    개인 위생을 위해 침낭을 반드시 준비하시기 바랍니다.

    ● 중요사항

    IBG will follow the national regulations and organise the projects in a way that they are as safe as possible. But the evolution of the infection situation and its dynamic cannot be foreseen. This makes planning difficult. Therefore we ask all volunteers to not make any travel arrangements before they receive a final confirmation that the camp will take place or to book refundable tickets.

    ● 주요내용

    For the 7th year, a workcamp will take place at the castle Grimburg. Built by the Trier archbishops around 1190, the castle has been destroyed and reconstructed several times. Awakened from its centuries-long sleep in 1978, a local group of volunteers started to reconstruct the castle again, including work on the very impressive castle keep. However, most parts are still a ruin and in the past years, efforts have been made to increase the castle’s accessibility and attractiveness of this unique site. Today, the castle is still maintained by an association run by local volunteers. It has become a popular destination for hikers, as well as a site used for weddings, youth activities, historic markets and knights’ festivals. During the workcamp the local association will organise a small festival on the castle on May30th where they also need your help. www.burg-grimburg.de

    Come to Grimburg Castle, enjoy living on the castle and support the maintenance of the castles’ grounds! There will be two parts of work: 1. Maintenance of the castle’s grounds: Usually local volunteers care for the maintenance of the castle but due to the enormous workload, they really need your help. You will do various works: cut bushes and grass, protect the masonry, maintain the historic mediaeval herb garden and do some cleaning work in the castle’s and witches museum. The work will depend on the weather conditions.
    2. Support the castle’s festival on May 30th: You will be involved in the local team of volunteers, help with the setting up, sell food and drinks and wash up dishes. Of course you will also celebrate together with the local volunteers. A second huge topic is your support in the preparation and organisation of the castles’ festival. You will become a part of the local festival team and of course celebrate together with them.

    ● 위치

    The castle Grimburg is overlooking the forests and valleys of the region called “Hochwald” (“high forest”). The castle is quite isolated; the next village (the name is also Grimburg) is in a 2km distance, the next shops are in Hermeskeil (10km). The castle is surrounded by nature and you will have the chance to enjoy it (just go for a walk...). Nevertheless you will also meet local people and share time with them or make an excursion to Trier, the oldest German city with 100,000 inhabitants. Here you can find many historical sights from the Roman period, many clubs and events (as it is a university town) and all other facilities.

    The nearest airport: FRA in Frankfurt,Germany
    The nearest terminal (train-, bus-, taxi station): Trier or Tuerkismuehle

    ● 숙박

    Your group will stay in one of the small towers of the castle – you will feel a bit like you are living as former inhabitants of the castle did. At night you will have the castle for your own; you can make a campfire and enjoy living in the nature. The conditions are basic; you will use the first floor for sleeping (bunk beds) and the ground floor for cooking and eating. There is electricity but no running water in the tower itself. Toilets and a shower are within 50m. Of course, there is also no internet available. Please bring a sleeping bag and a flashlight.
